We had the opportunity to speak to Gabriel Alenius, Project Manager at Background who is actively using the deBroome Brand Portal with his clients. He explains how the deBroome portal is helping his company and clients ease workflow, avoid inconsistencies and share information.
Tell us about Background.
Since 2011, the presentation agency Background, has been helping companies and presenters create and hold presentations that influence, inspire and engage audiences. Other services include assisting with PowerPoint, storytelling, script, photography, film, presentation techniques and one-on-one coaching.
What are some challenges when working with presentations?
Presentations are one of the few types of media in which the management of communication, brand and graphic identity is carried out by the entire organization. These elements are usually strictly controlled by the marketing and communication department.

In the same sense, there are two common problems when it concerns presentations. Another dilemma is a missed opportunity to handover the presentations to presenters in an effective way. A good handover requires describing the purpose of the slide and message on every slide as well as instructions that show clear examples and explains the slide’s use. This makes it easier for the entire organization to create presentations correctly and give a consistent impression, no matter who the presenter is.
Why has Background partnered with deBroome?
Because of these challenges, we have worked together with deBroome to develop a module in a Brand Portal that we call the Presentation Portal. This is a space where we have the possibility to upload important presentations, templates, guidelines for PowerPoint, speaker scripts, video, presentations in different languages as well as a best practice gallery. An administrator has full control over presentations and templates that are current and can review statistics about which files are used most.
In addition, we have developed a PowerPoint training with various skill levels of PowerPoint video tutorials. The course is available in both Swedish and English. Naturally, it becomes a part of the Presentation Portal and can be customized to the organization’s specific visual identity, functions and needs.
